How to change format from USD to number

Hello, Community - 

I'm updating our statement obligations to display attainment values that should be in number format, not currency; however, I am running into several unsuccessful attempts to do this. 

I tried to change via Apply Default Value along with Format > Display Format, and it is not changing away from USD.
