May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this week we're discussing mental health in the workplace. Here's a great article from CFO.com discussing the need to provide competitive employee benefits to attract talent, which includes mental health related resources. However, to what degree is this being utilized once offered?
Key Highlights:
- Only 19% of Employees Used Mental Health Benefits in 2022
- Employees' mental health is taking a toll on productivity, but new data shows benefits are going unused.
- A new report by One Medical and Workplace Intelligence, which surveyed 800 employees and 800 human resources (HR) professionals, found that, not only did over nine in 10 (91%) employees tell surveyors mental health was negatively impacting their productivity, but the usage of benefit offerings already in place by employees was extremely low.
- On top of 64% of workers telling surveyors they are struggling with mental health issues, almost half (45%) said their mental health is costing them and their employers over five hours of working time per week.
